The Donadea 10k/5k will take part on a 5k loop in the grounds of the beautiful Donadea Forest in Co. Kildare. Donadea Running Club and their pround sponsors Croí Laighean Credit Union are delighed to present the ever popular Donadea 10k and 5k.
Car park barriers will be open from 18:30 to 19:30. Anyone driving into the forest park before 18:30 or after 19:30 may be liable to pay the car park entry fee of €5 by tapping a debit card at the entrance barrier. Please note, cash is not accepted at the barrier. | ||

Q. When is the race? A. Both the 5K and the 10K start at 19:30 sharp on Friday 21st of July 2023 Q. How do I register? A. Register online at Q. Is there car parking at the event??
A. Yes. There will be ample car parking within Donadea Forest Car Park at no charge to participants. The barrier will be left open on the night from 18:30pm to 19:30pm to facilitate the event.
Q. When and where do I collect my race number?
A. The collection of our participant’s race number will take place on the evening of the event. A registration tent for both online and on night (if available) entries will be situated directly across from the castle in Donadea Forest Park and will be clearly marked. Registration will be open from 18.00 pm until 19.15 pm on the night.
Q. Where is the start and finish line?
A. The start and finish lines are located in front of the Castle area in Donadea Forest Park. As the course is a loop of the forest area so the finish line is located in roughly the same place as start line.
Q. Will there be a timing chip supplied to each participant?
A. Yes, the timing chip is included as part of your race number. The chip will provide you with an accurate finish time and the results will be available after the event from www.popupraces.ie We would ask walkers and slower runners to position themselves at the back. Your chip timing will only activate after you run past the start gentry arch, so starting back a bit further will not affect your race time. This makes for a safer and more enjoyable start for all.
Q. Has the course been accurately measured?
A. Yes, the course has been measured by a qualified course measurer supplied by the Athletics Association of Ireland. The course itself will have marked KM indicators along the route as well.
Q. Does the course leave the grounds of the forest?
A. No the entirety of the race is run within the grounds of the forest consisting of 1 loop for the 5K and 2 loops for the 10K. The forest is open to the public so be aware there may be other walkers on the route. There will be one water station on route. We will have bins in this area for rubbish disposable. Please do not drop rubbish are any other points in the forest.
Q. Is the course AAI permitted?
A. Yes, both the Donadea 5KM and 10KM are permitted by the Athletics Association of Ireland.
Q. What facilities are at the Start & Finish Line?
A. There will be portaloo toilet facilities adjacent to the start line as well as the forests own toilets adjacent to the car park. Water and bananas will available to all participants after the run. St. John’s Ambulance will also be on hand on the night for your safety.
Q. Are there changing or shower facilities at the venue?
A. Unfortunately not, given that the event is being held in the forest park there is not the facility for same at this event.
Q. Is the course safe?
A. The course will be well marshalled for your safety and the forest track itself is usually a good surface to run on. If there are any hazards on the day we will inform you well in advance of the run.
Q. What time does the race start?
A. The race starts at promptly 19.30pm. If there is any change to start time the team will notify you well in advance of the day.
Q. Where is the best place to look for accommodation if I want to stay close by?
A. The closest towns to the event are Clane or Kilcock and would be both good bases for one to stay.
Q. Can buggies or dogs accompany runners during race?
A. Strictly not. Due to health and safety this cannot be permitted as it could potentially jeopardise safety of participant or other runners on the night.
Q. Where does the race participant’s race entry fee go?
A. The race is a fundraiser for Donadea Running Club and all proceeds will be used to develop the club further and assist us in bringing more events such as this to the local area to encourage fitness and well-being.

Q. What does my entry fee include?
A. Your entry fee includes your Race Entry, Timing Chip, Water and Banana at finish line, and a medal for the first 250 entrants. You will receive your medal at the finish line, please have your race number visible.
Q. When will I receive my final instructions for the race?
A. An email will be sent out advising of race instructions on the week of the event. Should you have any queries however please do not hesitate to contact our team at donadearunclub@gmail.com.
Q. Will there by pacers on the day?
A. Yes, pacers will be provided for the 10K event for 45 minutes, 50 minutes, 55 minutes and 1 hour. There are no pacers for the 5K event.
